SUN PROTECTION SPOTS

Protecting your skin from the sun is a priority. However, it is unattractive when sun creams leave stubborn stains on textiles.
Why is this the case?

The organic UV filters in the formulas of sun protection products are responsible.

Some of these filters have a yellowish colour that can stick to clothing. The stains often only become visible or even intensify after washing. The stains become stronger because yellowish metal ions in the tap water combine with the UV filters in the textiles.

Sun cream stains caused by organic UV filters are a general problem with sun protection. They occur regardless of the product used (milk, spray, aerosol) or the brand.

However, the filters it contains against UVA and UVB rays are essential for protection. The higher the sun protection factor, the longer the skin is protected from the sun. However, discolouration is also more likely to appear on clothing.

Removing sun cream stains: unfortunately not always possible

It is not always possible to remove sun cream stains. The stains are particularly stubborn on light-coloured summer clothing made of cotton, linen or viscose. The reason for this is the chemical structure of the textile fibres. It is structured in such a way that the UV filters can ideally adhere to it.
