Sherpa Tensing™
VOM MOUNT EVEREST IN DIE SCHWEIZ
Wir waren dabei.
On 29 May 1953, Sherpa Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary wrote mountaineering history that travelled the world: Mount Everest was scaled for the first time.
INVENTED BY THE SWISS BIOCOSMETICS PIONEER
Gerda Spillmann, the Swiss biocosmetics pioneer, invented the innovative sun cream in the Zurich Oberland region in 1954. Her innovative sun cream was the first with a smooth and delicate formula. Before this, sun products were very sticky and not particularly moisturizing. This innovation later became Switzerland's most popular sun protection cream under the brand name Sherpa Tensing.
NAMED AFTER A MOUNTAINEERING IDOL
The most popular sun protection range in Switzerland was named after Sherpa Tenzing Norgay who, together with Sir Edmund Hillary, wrote mountaineering history in 1953 by becoming the first people to climb Mount Everest.
TESTED IN THE HIMALAYAS
Energy and total dedication were what made Sherpa Tenzing Norgay one of the first people ever to reach the summit of Mount Everest. This fantastic performance under the blazing Himalayan sun corresponds with the aspiration of the Sherpa Tensing brand to constantly optimize the performance of our sun protection products. Sherpa Tenzing Norgay was impressed with the products made in Winterthur and even agreed to put his name on them.
Sherpa Tensing subsequently tested their sun protection products under the most extreme conditions during various expeditions in the Himalayas. To this day, the Tenzing family maintain a long-standing relationship with friends in Switzerland and with Steinfels Swiss in Winterthur.
PRODUCED IN WINTERTHUR
For over 65 years, Sherpa Tensing skincare products have been produced in Switzerland and optimized in line with the latest medical and cosmetic findings. Today, Steinfels Swiss in Winterthur produces around forty different sun protection products in the Sherpa Tensing skincare range.
